Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May
The two-day Malton Beer and Wine Festival is set to attract the serious buff and connoisseur as well as the more casual drinker, keen to sample some of the best beers and wines around.
Scheduled to support the main Food Lovers Festival, the Malton Beer and Wine Festival will feature more than 30 cask ales, 3 ciders and an eclectic range of wines from across the new and old world.
Local publican, Neil Suddaby and one of the organisers of the event said, “We selected the range of beers based on a food theme so it will complement the wonderful food on offer throughout the weekend. Working with mainly local brewers we are highlighting the best of Yorkshire as well as some special guest beers from other parts of the country. Visitors will have the opportunity to try favourites such as Lavender Beer, Nettle Thrasher and Orkney Best to name just three.” There will also be the Yorkshire Warrior beer, the Yorkshire Regiment’s own, featuring to support their Army Kitchen activities.
Many of the beer barrels are sponsored to raise funds for two special local charities, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North Yorkshire Music Therapy.
A dedicated Wine Festival is a new addition to the event and will be hosted by wine professional Andy Taylor from award winning Liberty Wines. Visitors and connoisseurs alike can sample an eclectic selection of whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines, with comprehensive tasting notes for each. Wines will be available for sale by the glass or by the bottle. Tutored tasting sessions will run through Saturday and Sunday for those visitors who want to learn more about the wines.
There will be a dedicated soft drinks bar stocked by Fentimens, and the street food will be available into the evening, to include a hog roast, gourmet burgers and the Festival sausages, and wood oven pizzas.
Entry is free and the festival will be held inside the Milton Rooms, in Malton’s Market Place, with the addition of outdoor seating. It will run from 10.30 am on Saturday until 11 pm, and on Sunday from 11 am until 4:00 pm or as Neil says: “until the beer runs out!”
Live music will feature throughout the day and into the evening. The popular local duo, Two Music will deliver the evening’s musical entertainment. Their luxurious arrangements and stunning harmonies will seduce even the hardest heart. Further details can be found at www.twomusic.co.uk
