Malton Food Lovers Festival
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2012

BEST EVER SHOW ! SOOO much to see and do, we tackled the ‘tents’ on the Saturday and then the food stalls on the Sunday - as by the time we’d come out of ‘food theatres’ a heck of a lot of suppliers had run out of stock. So coming back on the Sunday was great - as they’d replenished everything.
Time to start planning next years !!
Well done everyone
Hi
I visited the Malton Food Festival with my son on Saturday. We were suprised to see so many stalls well spaced out and easy to access. We enjoyed several cookery demonstrations. We read the notice informing people that the food cooked was not for tasting although underneath it stated food was eaten at your own risk. one chef tipped his recently cooked food unceremoniously into the bin! One chef ivited us to taste which we began to do as we had seen it cooked, we had the plates whisked from under our noses and told that was not for tasting! very disappointing.
We were disappointed with the taste trail which we were encouraged to buy tickets for, these were supposed to offer good value. We felt they did not represent good value. My son tried to use his vouchers at 2.15pm on Saturday by which time several shops had run out of their offer and rather than waste time trying to find food he bought a burger and came home with £4 worth of vouchers! We would not use the taste trail in future.
We did use the park and ride which was useful and generally enjoyed our day. We have recommended the festival to friends for next year.

Sue Herdsman (Beverley)
Thanks for these comments, great to hear your feedback and glad to hear you had a good time!
We were running the Taste Trail for the first time so inevitably it had its teething problems, but overall we received very positive comments and are already working on ways to make it an even bigger success next year.
We are from Edinburgh and were on holidaying in Setterington. We arrived late afternoon on Saturday and headed straight for the food festival and returned on Sunday. Congratulations on a fantastic event, we loved it! As I write this, I’ve just finished a hangover brunch of Doreen’s black pudding and chorizo sausage, which we brought home, along with many other items. Your local produce is fantastic quality, so much so that we didn’t eat out the entire week. We spent a small fortune at the festival and used the excellent butchers, fishmongers and deli in Malton throughout the week and were very impressed by the quality on offer. We hope to return next year, so please let us know when you have finalised the dates for 2012 so we can book accommodation.
So pleased that you enjoyed the Festival and sounds like you took some treats back up to Scotland with you!
As to accommodation we would recommend The Talbot Hotel that will be newly refurbished and re-opened in time for next years festival. http://talbotmalton.com/
