General Information

Publicity: please note during the Malton Food Lovers Festival, photographs and video footage will be taken for use in publicity and on related websites.

Parking & Free Shuttle Bus:

You can park in Wentworth Street Car Park and in Showfield Lane. The free Festival Shuttle Bus (available both Saturday and Sunday) will run from Showfield Lane only.

Disabled parking is available at Wentworth Street Car Park and at Showfield Lane Car Park.

Using the Festival's Shuttle Bus is quicker, easier and free for everyone. The bus will run from Showfield Lane from 9.30am to Finkle Street, where passengers can alight. The shuttle bus can be boarded from Newgate and will run every approximately every 15 mins. The bus has low access, suitable for disabled users.

Please do not try and park in the central Market Place during the two days of the festival - you will NOT find a space and it will increase congestion in the centre of town.

Park & Walk:

Alternatively the walk from Wentworth Street Car Park to the Festival is a mere three minutes away.

The roads in the Market Place will be closed on both days from 8.30am to 5.00pm. The following roads will also be closed - Market Street, St. Michael's Street, Finkle Street, Saville Street and Newgate.

Please note those attending the Festival park at their own risk. Organisers cannot accept responsiblity for any loss or damage of vehicles or belongings.

Travel To Malton:

By Road: The main access to Malton from the South is along the A64 from York. From the North the A169 from Pickering and the A64 from Scarborough are both main routes.

By Rail: There is a fast and efficient direct train service to Malton on the Scarborough - York - Leeds - Manchester line. From London Kings Cross and the South there are good connections at York to Malton. For travellers from further North the best connections are also made at York.

By Bus: There are bus services to Malton from York and Scarborough, Pickering and Helmsley.

By Air: The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford International which is 70 minutes by car or by train direct from Leeds to Malton.

General Information

Accessibility:

All events in the Market Place and most parts of town are suitable for wheelchair access. Some shops have entrance steps but assistance will always be available on the spot from any Festival Steward.

Cash Points:

There is one cash point (HSBC) on the top side of the Market Place next too Derek Fox The Butcher. Another two are on Yorkersgate (Barclays & NatWest) and two more on Wheelgate. Check your Festival leaflet for directions.

Children:

Most things in the Festival will be suitable for, and of interest to, all the family, apart from alcoholic beverages.

Malton Food Lovers Festival 2013 is proud to announce the Children's Marquee, located on the corner of Finkle Street Square, which includes a rolling programme of kid's acitivities. Tickets cost just £1, and can be bought from this website. As it is a rolling programme, you can turn up at any time within the timings given on your child's ticket, and wait for the acitivity to begin again. Please DO NOT leave your child unattended, thank you.

Coaches and Groups:

Coach parties - and other groups - are welcome, especially on Sunday, which is a bit quieter than Saturday.

Dates for 2013:

The Malton Food Lovers Festival is always the 3rd weekend in May, this year's dates are Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2013.

Dogs at the Festival:

Well behaved dogs with well behaved owners are always welcome at the Festival.

Exhibitors:

Applications for exhbitiors for this year's Festival have now closed. However, if you would like to join us for Malton Food Lovers Festival 2014, you can apply from October 2013.

First Aid:

There is a first aid kit available in the Ticket and Information point.

Opening times:

Main festival is open Saturday 19th - from 9am (Beer festival is open from 10am till 11pm)

Main Festival is open Sunday 20th - from 9am (Beer festival is open from 10am till 6pm)

Toilets:

Toilets, including disabled access, can be found opposite The Shambles, in the Market Place and in the Milton Rooms. These are shown on the map in the festival leaflet.

Vegetarians:

There is a wide range of vegetarians and vegan food at the festival.
