Malton Food Lovers Festival 2012

Malton’s culinary credentials are stepping up a gear with organisers revealing the flagship Food Lovers Festival weekend celebration is set for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2012.

In May this year the Festival attracted a record breaking 10,000 visitors and the early announcement of the 2012 dates and additional events planned for autumn is in response to the many producer and visitor enquiries.

Over the two days in May the town’s central Market Place will once again play host to hundreds of Yorkshire’s high quality artisan food and drink producers and street food stalls, whilst two cookery theatres will feature live demonstrations from many of the region’s top chefs and visiting celebrity cooks.

The Taste Trail, one of the most popular new elements of the Festival, is to be expanded. Visitors will be able to sample different and delicious tasting dishes in return for pre-purchased vouchers at an increased number of locations all around the town.

The festival is a show case for local fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, fish and gourmet speciality cheeses, cakes, oils, relishes and top quality kitchen equipment.

And with some 3000 pints of beer and cider sold over the two days, the Beer, Wine and Cider Festival 2012, will feature an expanded programme of tutored tastings and entertainment, in the Milton Rooms.

Support for the annual Food Lovers Festival and backing for the We Love Malton campaign has resulted in new food related events, taking place during the coming months, to include a Christmas Food Lovers Market featuring street food stalls, specialist food and drink producers’ stalls, together with an enhanced Saturday market.

The Food Lovers Festival continues to have support from Fitzwilliam Estates and Welcome to Yorkshire.
