The Ayurvedic Principle of Foods That Heat Up and Cool Your Body

The healing power of Ayurveda is well known as it aims at holistic development of mind, body and soul of an individual. It involves optimistic thinking, regular exercise and other yogic techniques. This helps one calm the body and balance out your diet, which had a significant impact in our life which, when consumed, can heal you from within.

 

When it comes to Ayurveda, cold and hold does not mean the physical temperature of the food product, in fact, the natural nature of the food. These are some characteristics which can have some effect on Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These innate characteristics are referred to as Virya. There is no direct correlation to the physical temperature of the particular food item to its internal nature.

 

Some examples of hot foods according to Ayurveda include things like onion, black pepper, garlic, ginger, spicy foods, potatoes, broccoli, spinach, beans, carrots, radishes, turnips, apples, oranges, mango, ajwain, mustard, hing, basil, oregano and mint is known to have a warming effect on our body after consumption.

Some examples for cold foods according to Ayurveda include banana, strawberries, watermelons, kiwi, apricots, milk, yoghurt, creams, cheese, soya milk, tofu, green tea, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce, eggplants, etc., have a very cooling effect on the mind and body.

It one consumes a lot of hot food the body production increases, which can easily cause a burning sensation which also increases the pitta dosha. A lot of cold food can lead to you have delayed digestion and flu, cough and fever.

 

Ayurveda tries to assess if a particular food is cooling or heating to a body which can directly affect our metabolism. It is essential to note that consumption of food heavily depends on the body, which determines the way your body reacts to the food. Each and every body has a different effect on certain food which is needed to be identified. No understanding our own body when it comes to the food that we consume can have a lot of adverse effects. This is one of the main reasons which makes us much more susceptible to diseases in the first place.
