About Us

Malton Food Lovers Festival will be held on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2012. This year’s festival was held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May 2011. The pretty market town making its name as one of Yorkshire’s top foodie destinations was delighted to welcome thousands of hungry visitors.

The festival team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved and made the weekend such a massive success. The chefs and producers were incredible, varied and interesting, the beer and wine festival sold out, the car parks were bulging at the seams and moving to two days turned out well with a really busy Sunday. All in all a very special and exciting event especially with the addition of the ‘Taste Trail’ which proved an instant festival hit.

The Festival aims to showcase the very best produce from the surrounding countryside with 100 varied producers offering visitors the chance to taste and buy the best that Yorkshire has to offer. As well as the producers, two separate theatres hosted a series of cookery demonstrations by award-winning cooks including ‘Celebrity Chef’ Rosemary Shrager and famous food writer Tom Parker Bowles.

For families there was the chance to enjoy the Young Chefs’ Competition, a Mayoral “Cook Off” won by the Mayor of Norton, an Army Kitchen complete with Scimitar Tank, a ‘Farming Skills’ area, festival sausages and of course superb street food stalls. All this and there was a brilliant programme of live music throughout the two days.

special thank you must go out to our Festival patrons, Rosemary Shrager, Brian Turner, Andrew Pern and Tom Parker Bowles and of course to all the visitors who gave the event such a fantastic and happy atmosphere. Foodie heaven hit Malton this May and we are already looking forward to next year!
